Break up the opponent's moyo
When the opponent builds a large framework (moyo), you can invade — play deep inside it to live off or destroy the territory — or reduce — play lightly on the edge of it to compress without committing. Invade where the framework is thin or weak; reduce (stay safe) where it is thick and strong. Living inside is ideal; even a sacrificial invasion that trades can be worth it.
