The tight pincer
A komoku corner tilts toward territory. When White approaches on the third line, Black can pincer one space away on the same line — the low one-space pincer. It denies White the easy extension along the side and forces a local fight: White must dance out or settle small. Quiet moves elsewhere on the board are big too — but letting the approach settle freely hands White the whole rhythm of the opening.
