Read it to the end
Always read a ladder to the end before starting it: a single friendly stone on the escape path is a ladder-breaker that flips the whole chase. Black has ataried twice here, expecting to herd White along the edge — but White's stone waits on the path, and connecting to it ends the ladder and turns the tables. Once connected, the rescued chain breathes freely while Black's two chasing stones stick out in the open, suddenly the weaker side. White to play: connect and end the chase.
