Cap one step ahead
The net catches without a single atari. Instead of pressing from the front — where the runner simply pushes through — you place one loose stone a step beyond the escape route, so every direction of flight runs into the waiting mesh. Because the net is local, it does not depend on a clear path to the edge the way a ladder does (6.3); the price is a few forcing moves the runner grabs on the outside while the mesh closes. Nets reward patience and geography over speed: you never chase the stone, you own the ground it must cross. Black to play: weave the first loop.
